A Family Passion
Raw Gold is a family-run business, led by husband and wife team Gary and Monique Hodgkinson. Their shared passion for dogs and deep commitment to their well-being are at the heart of everything we do.
At home, Gary and Monique share their lives with their Boxers and Whippets on a smallholding in the Western Cape, surrounded by mountains, vineyards, and the ocean. This natural setting reflects and inspires their philosophy, a commitment to quality, simplicity, and biologically appropriate nutrition aligned with a dog’s evolutionary needs.

Monique Hodgkinson
CEO
Monique is an International Boxer Specialist Judge and an Accredited Working Group Judge. She's been breeding Boxers since 1999 under the Tanyati prefix and exceptional health is one of the cornerstones of her breeding program.
Gary Hodgkinson
Operations Director
Gary brings a wealth of knowledge to Raw Gold with his background in Information Technology, including extensive experience in system design, process engineering, and business analysis.
Together, they form a dynamic team that combines nutritional expertise with operational excellence. Their shared passion for canine health drives Raw Gold's commitment to producing premium raw dog food that meets the highest standards of quality and ethics.

Raw Gold is dedicated to crafting premium raw pet food for discerning pet owners who value quality without compromise. Inspired by the health of our own dogs and guided by strong ethical principles, we source only responsibly produced ingredients that are free from growth promoters and routine antibiotics.
Wherever possible, we select free-range and wild-caught proteins, maintaining a standard that reflects both respect for the animals and confidence in the integrity of every ingredient. Our recipes contain no meat meal, meat derivatives, or rendered products.

Our complete and balanced minced meals are registered with the Department of Agriculture in terms of Act 36 of 1947, reflecting our commitment to meeting South Africa’s most rigorous standards for microbiological safety and nutritional integrity. Our products are regularly tested by independent accredited laboratories to verify nutrient composition and ensure that pathogen levels remain well below the strict limits prescribed by the Act. This dedication allows us to deliver food you can trust, crafted with precision, care, and complete transparency.
Manufacturing Excellence
Raw Gold is produced in our dedicated processing facility under stringent hygiene and sanitary protocols, in accordance with strict food safety standards, by a highly trained team. Each batch undergoes careful quality control assessment before being transferred immediately to our blast freezer, maintained at −28°C. This rapid freezing process reduces microbial activity and preserves product integrity, ensuring optimal retention of nutritional value, texture, and freshness while supporting cold chain stability through to delivery.
